The BIT Analyst Group (Bernard Dubs) and its American partner WinterGreen Research Boston (Susan Eustis, Dorothy Alexander) have attended the IBM System z Kickoff 2012 by analyst invitations.

System z business update :

TCO: IBM has compiled 97 total customer studies with compares from 88 MIPS to 48,000 MIPS. Average cost of distributed alternative are said to be 2.2 times greater than System z. Only 4 out of 97 studies showed lower TCOs on distributed.

The IBM DB2 Analytics Accelerator V2.1 is one complementary system to the IBM System z family. Swiss RE Director of Information Technology brought the customer testimony to back the IBM Value Proposition of providing near real-time analytics up.

zEnterprise hybrid computing dynamics

IBM has stated that a 16% shipped MIPS growth has been observed in 2011. Since the z196 began shipping, were added more than 115 new System z clients, with over 30% of these in the emerging economies.

IBM said it has established a new world record running SAP banking solution on zEnterprise with DB2 10 for z/OS. zEnterprise BladeCenter Extension delivered 59 million account postings in a 150-million-bank-account based on SAP for Banking.

1. Clients with multi-tier applications such as the aforementioned SAP or Core Banking where the database is DB2 for z/OS or Oracle on Linux for System z

3. Clients implementing a SOA to extend or re-use existing mainframe assets
