Michel Mestrallet is a BIT Group analyst and expert covering Data Centers, with a particular focus on virtualization (desktops, servers and storage) and business continuity.
Michel has 30 years of professional experience in the High Tech field; he started his career as Project Engineer, Hardware & Software, at CII-DPOAS -- later renamed SEMS -- a Thomson Group company manufacturing large and mid-range computers.
In 1980, he co-founded Copernique taking responsibilities of Development Manager, Industrial Director and finally VP and Board Member. At Copernique he invented the DIRAM 32, a disk I/O accelerator subsystem later used to build servers designed for the France Telecom SVP Service (11 / 3611).
From 1992 to 2001, he was founder and CEO of Quavis. Between 2002 and 2006, Michel worked as an independent expert for large corporate CIOs whilst being a board member for start-ups and SMEs in electronics.
With an engineering degree (MS) from ENSEA (a Paris-based engineering school specializing in applied electronics) and a PhD in electronics and computer science from the University of Orsay, Michel has authored several global patents in processor architecture and digital storage, as well as for a “virtual purse” for small purchases on the Internet.
He was the 1995 Challenge+ Award winner in innovation management from the HEC Business School.
Since April 2008, Michel has been a Member of the MEDEF (CEO Syndicate) Green / Green IT taskforce.
